Chapter 1 - All For One
Standing on the ledge of the high-rise, he let the wind brush against his skin, rustle his hair, and caress his freckled cheeks. The sun is setting upon the horizon, adding red, orange to the sky, painting clouds into pink. The birds were spreading their wings and flying freely through the skies, chirping and singing the freedom they had, loudly. Looking down, The street lights and skyscrapers surrounding him light up, preparing for the darkness to come. The streets are crowded with people who left work, going back to their safe, warm home.
The sight was truly magnificent for the boy who had never reached this height. However, it gave him kind of a bittersweet feeling.
The boy on top of the building was exhausted. He was tired of everything, he wanted to give up, he wanted to let go, he wanted everything to end. Nothing seemed to go right for him for his whole life, as if the whole world is against him, wanting to torture him, wanting him to suffer.
His relationships between family and friends, adults and children, were tense at best, abusive at worst - if he even had friends to begin with. Unfortunately, he only had his so-called family, which to others, wouldn't be considered as one.
In their eyes, he was nothing but a tiny insect to be trampled on. To them, he was a tool to be disposed of. In front of them, he was shackled, not being able to escape from their grasp - even though he was nothing but 'worthless'.
But...
Those were only lies they told the boy. By telling he was worthless, by telling no one loved him, by locking him up in a room, they were able to manipulate him to do whatever they pleased.
The boy's family is very poor, mainly because the father is a villain and the other is an alcoholic. The boy was merely a mistake from their deeds, therefore, he was like a liability to his parents since he was born, wasting money that could be spent on themselves. However, it didn't change at all after his quirk manifested.
The boy's quirk is called Analysis. This is a passive quirk that increases one’s intellect and analytical abilities. It has no drawbacks either. To the family, it was basically a gold mine, and the manipulation started.
Stretching out his hands to feel the cool breeze, the boy stepped forwards, bit by bit, towards the corner of the edge, looking down at the streets, looking at the world once again for the final time. Once he reached the corner, he took a deep breath, then let go. He let the gravity pull him down the building.
Then, he started to fall.
Closing his eyes, enjoying the last few seconds of his life, trying to remember his non-existent happy memories, only to find none. Still, he smiled weakly, but it was genuine one. A smile that has not been seen since he was born - his first and final one.
You are useless!
Don't even try to escape! No one will love you!
Worthless.
Waste of space.
The only reason we are keeping you is because of your quirk, not you.
Don't call me Mom!
Don't call me Dad!
We are not your parents!
Before he hit the ground, he started to feel drowsy, but he didn't fight it, he just let the darkness consume him, hoping that when he wakes up, he won't be in this world anymore, hoping that he won't even wake up anymore. He had no reason to live, after all. No one loves him.
To say work was exhausting for All For One, the king of the underworld, is the understatement of the century (or the century before). Dealing with his ‘successor’, dealing with his old subordinates who doesn’t obey anymore, dealing with other villain organizations in the shadows, he had to do everything because of his incompetent successor. The young adult is childish and naive, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to describe him as a ‘man child’.
Just then, the said successor decided that it would be a great idea to disintegrate his gaming console with his quirk. Even though he had like 10 billion of them stored, it was still annoying to hear that his successor had yet to mature. In such a cruel world with heroes and villains, white and black, it would be hard to even survive a second in the world of villains.
The most frustrating thing to All For One is that he actually grew attached to his successor. He initially wanted to manipulate the successor (which he did) to become a vessel to destroy the society. However, what he did not expect is that for his successor, it turned into a ‘strict father and his troublemaker’ relationship. Though, this is kind of one-sided, at least for his successor that is. Even All For One grew fond of the successor, he could only see him as a prestige, nothing else.
However, he just wanted an obedient child who doesn’t care if he is a villain or hero and listens to everything he says. It doesn’t matter if the child won’t go into villainy, as long as the child doesn’t leave him and continue to stay with him, he doesn’t really mind - not that he actually needed the child's permission though.
The point is he wanted company, he wanted someone to dote and care for.
Maybe he could even kidnap someone.
So now he is grinning crazily about that thought and wandering in the alleys, taking time to relax and rest from his work and successor madness. It was always comfortable for the supervillain to take walks around the city with his costume on, scaring people who didn’t know his identity, making them cower and running away in fear. But who could blame them though? Even though of his reputation in the underground world, he was a secretive one. No one really knows who he is except for the doctor who took care of him. All they knew is All For One.
Just when he thought his day couldn’t be bad enough, his danger sensing quirk, the one which he stole from the 4th user of One For All, was alarming him and going haywire. Calmly, he let his quirk instinctually move his body, only to sense an object dropping in extreme speed. With all his experience in sneak attacks, he browsed through his quirk storage and used a barrier quirk which obviously activates a barrier around him, it was like a force field.
The barrier could pretty much guarantee his safety, so he didn’t do much safety precaution. Even though if the object hit him, he could heal in a few days, he even fully healed from All Might’s injuries which could potentially kill him in 6 days. Looking up to see what was going to drop on him, and who was attacking him, he found a white object falling down from the sky.
Is that a bomb?
Narrowing his eyes and activating a vision-enhancing quirk, he briefly saw the features of a boy.
Snow white, unruly curly hair. Wow, it seems like we have the same hair colour, such white hair is very rare nowadays. The symmetrical diamond-shaped freckled cheeks though. closed eyes, a smile? Wait, tears? Is he happy to fall? Wait, is this a suicide attempt?
Wondering, he activated his teleportation quirk and black substances appeared on the ground like a wave of water. He watched as the child fell through the black substance and disappeared.
Did I, the merciless villain, save someone?
Disappointed in himself, he sighed deeply, frustrated with how children could easily infiltrate his mind and emotions. Then, he started to walk back to his base with his successor, Kurogiri, and the mad doctor, wanting to check on the white-haired boy he just met.
After arriving at the all-white lab with a lot of medical tools, along with some tubes and giant containers which is where he sent the boy with his teleportation quirk. It is probably a bad idea since the mad doctor is there experimenting for Nomus, he saw the still unconscious boy strapped on a table, ready to be dissected.
Above the boy is the familiar mad doctor grinning crazily at the 'new subject', one hand holding a scalpel, another holding a needle. If All For One isn't here, the poor boy might have fallen victim to the doctor.
"Doctor, don't."
All For One revealed himself at the entrance of the lab leaning on the already closed blast door. Sternly telling the doctor not to do so, he walked towards the doctor and the boy.
"Hi, sir! This is a fine subject! Why not? We can make intelligent Nomus out of this kid!"
"Wait for a moment, he just committed suicide and I would like to know what causes him to do so. After that, we can decide."
"Okay, sir, should I release the boy from the restraints or not?"
"Yes doctor, set him on a comfortable bed. Inform me when he wakes up, I want to ask him some questions."
"Ok sir, will do."
Nodding, the supervillain received the doctor's confirmation and left the lab. The lab is destined to be secretive and hidden, so it's basically a lab surrounded by a giant, messy maze. It is impossible for people to reach the lab if they do t have the appropriate quirk, even for his successor. After a few turns, from right to left, right to left, using a bit of his teleportation quirk, he returned to the bar (their base) to check on said successor.
Upon arrival, he immediately heard a loud crash. It sounded like something broke because of a large impact. It is also followed by glass shattering noises. Knowing the source of the noise, he sighed yet again, then went to where the source of the noise was.
Turning to another corner again, he saw his successor lying on the floor with an extremely grumpy face and scratching his neck while at it. On the wall, there is a broken TV, probably broken by the gaming controller on the ground also broken. Like a normal occurrence, a mist man covered with mist (obviously) and neck was covered by a long metal collar thingie, was calmly wiping the dirt and bacteria off the glass.
"Kurogiri, what is this? Didn't I tell you to take care of him? Why did he have such an attitude?"
"Master, with all due respect, isn't my fault. You aren't here when Young Master needs you, that's why he developed such an attitude as an unhealthy coping system. Besides, Young Master unfortunately doesn't listen to me. I can't really do anything."
The only person in this world who could ever talk to he supervillain like this is Kurogiri, not even his successor.
"Are you blaming on me? Did you forget how I entrusted his care to you? I'm disappointed."
"Tomura."
Tomura got up from his lying position as soon as he heard his idol, surprised to see him visiting him in person.
"Sensei! What do you need?'
"What did I say about not breaking anything?"
"Not… to vent on other stuff?..."
"Exactly, now look at what you did."
"Oh…"
"Think about it."
All For One returned to his office shortly after that conversation, waiting for his call from the doctor.
Then, he heard a ding from his phone.
It's time to know what happened to the boy.
Being too lazy to use his legs to walk, he activated his teleportation quirk and black substances appeared below his feet once again. Cloaked by it, he appeared in the lab after a few seconds.
"Is he awake?"
"Yes sir, I didn't put any restraints on him for now as you said."
"Good, I will go see him."
"Okay sir, I will go experiment now!"
The formal tone turned into a playful tone as the doctor thought about experimenting on the other subjects, slipping to another room, like a child.
Turning away after watching like the excited doctor skilling away, he walked towards the boy lying on the bed.
Where am I? Am I finally dead? Why is this so bright? Is this heaven or hell?
It's not like it matters though.
I just don't want to exist anymore.
Eyes fluttered open, he saw himself in a bright, white room with some medical supplies on a table.
What?...
He was extremely confused as he never left his house before.
Is this a hospital? Am I not dead?...
He briefly saw some hospital documentaries when he was analysing for his biological parents, if not, he wouldn't know a single thing about it.
Using his hands to push himself up, looked at the surroundings to see a tall, masked, white-haired, black-suited man walking towards him. Having seen a lot of heroes and villain fights, he knew the danger in this cruel world, despite being a caged bird. He curled himself up instinctually to guard himself against danger, that's what he learned from his parents at least.
As the man got close to him, he realized the man in front of him was the supervillain, All For One. Eyes widened, he started to tremble. He knew well how cruel and merciless the tall man is, he would do whatever he wanted to achieve his goal, along with another figure, known as the Death Duo. Anyone who came across them and wronged them, will inevitably face death.
"A-All For one…?"
The boy said quietly but the villain could hear him nonetheless.
To say All For One is surprised is an understatement. He didn't expect a boy to know his identity. The shock instantly turned into interest as he stared at the boy in front of him, like a predator targeting their prey.
"How do you know me little one?"
"W-Why am I alive...?"
"What do you mean? I saved you;"
"Why did you save me…?"
"Huh?"
"WHY DID YOU SAVE ME?! I JUST WANNA DIE! THAT'S ALL I WANT! WHY LIFE HATES ME SO DAMN MUCH!"
The boy instantly broke down as his emotion poured out. Just as he thought he could end everything and be free, he got saved by someone. By the number one villain too.
All For One did nothing as he continued to stare at the boy, observing his every action. He wondered what caused the poor child to be like this.
The boy finally got up and revealed his emerald eyes that were covered by his locks which surprised All For One even more - the same eyes his baby brother owned.
"Why…?"
"Because you were about to die."
"I didn't know a supervillain like you would be merciful enough to do this, not even heroes would anyways…"
Looking down on the piles of marbles on the floor, he nervously started to fidget his fingers, the fear of being a presence in front of the supervillain kicking in, losing his sass and hatred that was swelling in his stomach. Answering the villain’s previous question, he opened his slightly shaking mouth to speak.
"I never went out of my house, I was locked inside because of my quirk."
"What's your quirk then?"
"My quirk… is analysis, it's a passive quirk which allows me to increase my intellect and analytical abilities. My parents, who never allowed me to see the outside world because I was a mistake. After my quirk manifested, they locked me up in a basement with only a blanket, notebooks, pens, and a TV screen. My father is a villain and my mother is an alcoholic. Even with my father's financial support, my mother kept spending it on unnecessary things. I don't know why, but they vented their problems on me, probably because I'm useless, worthless and a waste of space. They forced me to do analysis with my quirk on both heroes and villains, that's how I saw the fight between you and All Might. I learnt how to hack too, so I can find more footage and sources easier and hand the analysis to my father to avoid beatings. Today I gathered up my courage and escaped, wanting to die, I jumped off the roof- wait why am I even telling you this?"
"One of my quirks, it allows me to force the target to tell me what I want to know."
All For One grinned, wondering what the reaction of the boy of a supervillain using a quirk on him to gain information, while hiding his worry about the child’s past, who is clearly not okay at all. Then, the lightbulb lit up, a thought appeared in his head.
Did he just say analysis? Maybe I can keep him. No, I must keep him, his precious emerald eyes are like my baby brother's. Yes, I will adopt him and dote on him, maybe planning on world domination in the meantime.
What he didn’t expect was silence filled the room. He could see the boy panicking but trying to hide it with a calm face, which he miserably failed. Chuckling at this newly adopted son because he gets what he wants, and no one gets to stop him, he watched the boy’s expression both amusingly and worriedly.
Deciding to break the awkwardness in the room, All For One asked the boy a question.
"What’s your name?"
"Midoriya Izuku- I curse you and your stupid thief quirk."
The antic earned another chuckle from the supervillain.
Izuku was just trying to die, and now he ended up sitting in front of the world’s feared supervillain who possibly lived for more than a century. He guessed that because of the inhumane amount of quirks the villain used at the battle against All Might. One cannot steal so many quirks in a lifetime, so Izuku assumed the villain had some sort of immortality or longevity quirk.
He was panicking just then, but he realized that he wanted to die, and the man in front of him can grant him that wish, so he just calmed down and moved to a comfortable position, then laid on the bed casually, ignoring the fact that the supervillain is standing in front of him. There were so many questions he wanted to ask, so he decided to do it.
"So… Are you going to kill me yet? If so, please make it quick and painless."
"I won’t, in fact. I will keep you, baby scales"
Izuku blushed from the cute nickname, he liked it, not that he would admit it though, not in front of the supervillain in front of him.
"My parents said that and that didn’t end well, and what’s with the nickname?"
"I promise you that you will have a lot of fun, and you will be cared for, how about that? And I adopted you already, hence a nickname, more like a pet name which I prefer."
"Do I get a say in this?"
"Nope."
Sighing, Izuku rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand as a wave of tiredness arrived at his mind.
"What have I got myself into?"
"Oh baby scales, a lot, but I really thought you were going to fanboy on heroes, which saved me a lot of effort from brainwashing you."
"I don’t know if you are serious or not anymore, the whole situation is just… weird, I was going to suicide, then now I’m apparently the son of the All-Mighty All For One? And yes, pun intended. Anyways, and to answer your question, no, I’m not a fanboy of heroes. All these years analysing heroes and villains from the third perspective, I realized that the society is corrupted, so I’m not really against your whole "world domination" thing. At least don’t get to exist- Wait, you are using your stupid quirk on me, aren’t you?"
"Only you have the guts to talk to me like that, baby scales, and I’m glad to know that you are up to world domination. For your information, yes I did."
"Wait, out of all nicknames or pet names whatever you want to call it, why baby scales? Not like I don’t like it or anything."
Izuku muttered the last sentence quietly, but of course, the villain heard it, and mentally beamed.
"You will be the dragon who will soar above the heavens along with me and my other friend. You are a baby compared to me and dragons have scales, so ‘baby scales’."
"Okay…? But do you really have to speak so formally like this?"
"Oh baby scales, do you want me to be myself?"
"Sure…? Is that a bad thing?"
"Not really! But I would love to dote on my baby dragon!"
Without warning, All For One changed his formal and supposedly intimidating tone into a cheerful and excited one with a genuine grin on his face, not his mischievous ones, nor his crazy ones. He then scooped Izuku up and rested Izuku’s head on his shoulders, his hand on Izuku’s bottom to hold him, and another to hold his head gently. Bouncing Izuku like a baby, he cooed in Izuku’s ears, soothing him into a deep slumber.
"Sleep, baby scales, sleep."
"But-"
"You will feel like you don’t exist if you sleep."
Then, Izuku instantly fell asleep in All For One’s arms, ignoring the fact that he is getting babied by the supervillain, and the fact that the supervillain is willing to baby him in the first place.
Finally cackling out of control, the villain dialled a number."
"Am I a bear? Am I a dog? Am I a bear? But the only important thing is I am the principal! Long time no see, my only human friend!"
"Indeed, we should catch up on our plans on world domination."
Then, maniac laughs can be heard from both devices. Unknowingly to them, it sent chills to every human in the world.
